Please bear in mind it was NatGeo/Beyond/Taboo's twisted interpretation. It was edited out of 3 full time days of filming, & they didn't let us see it until it aired.
We would have not done the show at all had we known they'd misconstrue, demean & reduce us like that. Not even mention our music?! Ouch! We feel haunted...
We don't intend to be "outside of society". We'd rather find a way to participate in the healing of society at large.
My playshops are not all about intimacy. There's yoga, dancing, singing, twirling & oming, using movement & voice in many varieties of self expression, mindful fruit
sharing, meditation, lots of deep breathing, & other practices that help people deal with all kinds of addiction, find self fulfillment & esteem in the beauty of their essential
humanity, while having fun & liberating creativity. Shockingly, they only showed a quick preliminary run-through when we didn't  even know we were being filmed, & sure
made it look uninviting. They showed barely a second of the real thing, & then some of just the 2 of us doing the "Mood Monsters", but there's a lot  more than that to our
comprehensive healing program. The playshops are not free either, but more like gift exchange. I also do personal mentoring.
We never claimed that we "refuse to work & don't use money". We are musicians, healers, dancers, performance artists. We are indeed renunciates, certainly refuse the
rat race & to engage in competitive consumerism  & most human activity that seems unhealthy & antiecological.  I can be quoted that work, duty, & guilt are unnatural
byproducts of the generalized state of addiction. We strongly favor a gift economy, frugality & waste recycling. We have before lived with no money whatsoever, on our
bikes or hitchhiking.
But as of now we lead a high maintenance life, & we "work" hard to make our bus livable & beautyfull, on our MUSIC (we invent & make our own instruments, we've made a
stage at the back doors), & on our dance, performance art, videos, website, writings, meditations & practices, etc. (all so offensively left out of the picture though they
filmed plenty of it) & we would love to make money/resources from all the beautyfull things we do & use it to create a bigger movement & manifest a healthier dimension of
existence. People are calling us "care free" & it's so misleading. We're trapped in post modern 21st century & we have a lot to worry about.
We never "chose to live in a big city". We made it clear we mean/used to be nomad, & we've been kinda stuck here with a heart surgery, a hard immigration case & other
hardships; not knowing where to head to find our kin & not having enough support. Now how hypocritical of us. At one point, they show us sitting/pacing around in the
street. But we never do that: we were impatiently waiting for the crew to go buy a snack! They kept saying we made them hungry!
While we are proud of the lifestyle & recycling ways that have sustained us through crippling adversity, we'd rather upgrade to often collecting official fruit waste donations
for producing & participating in healing events, performing at a larger scale & traveling. We thought the show would be some kind of breakthrough to get known. But they
didn't show or say anything about our aims, talents & capacities. Or much about the rest of our philosophy & lifestyle. Or even our hardships! For all they know, we just
dumpster dive & eat fruit & that's all there'll ever be. They consistently left out anything constructive or creative that we showed them or talked about. (Though they
interviewed us for hours)
The real trancy music playing in the background was our own, but they didn't acknowledge that either. We don't even appear in the "original music" credits (though ours is
way more original). They didn't even mention we play music or perform at all! When they say we're "relaxing", we're actually doing our Tranceformance.  But they didn't
show us doing yoga & laying around. They did, however, show a lot of unrelated balconies & trollies!?
I'm 44, Matthew 46. I'm about 95% fruitarian, but he's like 75%. The fruitarian scavenging & our relationship were pretty accurate, & totally cute. We appreciate the kudos
from the "experts".  But we had no Idea they were gonna make it all about that & we resent it. We only filmed the dumpsters for a couple of hours out of 20+ hours of other
things they left out (our Music!) or misconstrued.
We were hoping to show we transmute the mindless waste of consumerism into very constructive art, but they showed us in a way that can only furtherly stigmatize us as
good for nothing free loaders. They paint us as people who don't do anything, who want to be outside of society & have nothing to contribute to it, where on the very
contrary,  we think we have a lot of beautiful healing  stuff to share & we were hoping to show that to the world. & get some "work" & support too. But they left all that out.
I guess it wasn't Taboo enough.
While their portrayal is obviously a lot more Taboo & easier for them to work with than our real complexities, it's not accurately who we are, nor an approach that is likely to
improve our lives or give us any opportunities. Plus, we are devotedly careful to live in what we think is the healthiest ways possible, we feel we have an important healing
message & we hate to be misconstrued. While parts of it are accurate, the full picture they paint is not exactly the message we wanted to put out there. We feel haunted
by our imprint on collective conscience. Millions have seen us dumpsters diving, while only thousands have seen our music or an accurate version of our fun healing
practices.  We feel like such a waste of healing talent! We truly believe we have a unique gift to help people Heal for Real in great fun, we also deserve to shine & become
solvent, & everybody oughta know about our  fun, groovy healing ways.
None of the people featured in the other Taboo stories provided their own music or video clips to them. (Those parts where it says "rec" in red are from our youtube
videos.) Yet we are the only ones they claim "refuse to work".  Its seems like a very unfair, twisted, mean antirecognition. Jinxed!
Oh well, we learned our lesson. Hopefully  there'll be an opportunity to even it up & show the beautyfull music & healing "work" we do to a wide worldwide audience as well.

Forbidden Fruit? Taboo Twisted our Truth! Long Shot Disclaimer
National Geographic's show Taboo has been airing often a "documentary"??!! story on us since 10/09/12, "Forbidden Fruits", as part of their episode "Private Passions",
produced by Beyond Productions. They lied, misconstrued, demeaned & exploited us in all kinds of ways.
They used our music in the background several times. They have the right, I signed a release. But we're not in the "original music" credits, they don't say that's our own
original music, don't show us playing (though they filmed us playing live in length), or anywhere mention that we make music or perform at all. & then they say we "refuse
to work". We work plenty on our music & art. We even make our own instruments & costumes. We built a stage in our converted limo bus we can play a concert directly
out of, among many other things we've installed to make it livable & beautiful. They filmed all that. We were hoping this show would help us get known & get some work.
We weren't paid for appearing on the show, & we truly thought the exposure was our reward. In fact, the first email we were sent about participating on the show said it'd
"give you exposure to millions of people for your music". When the crew was here they were all enthusiastic about it & at all times we were led to believe it was gonna be
shown.
Plenty of people who work on music, including the guy listed in the "original music" credit, who ends up taking credit for our (much more original) music that we "refused to
work" on. We worked on our music. We composed it, we made & installed a variety of instruments, we recorded it in a studio, we made CD's, we put it up on our website
Alomagical & youtube, we practice most everyday, we play it live at events. The sound people at the studio worked too.
Not just that. Our Tranceformance also involves dancing & performance art to the sound of our own prerecorded music, wild outfits & glimmery decors. The instruments
themselves are quite spectacular. They also use chunks of 2 of our most laboriously edited youtube videos,
AllAlmas Tranceformance, which we signed a release for, but
again there was no acknowledgment other than "rec" in red over our videos.  They know making videos is work. They get paid for it.
They paint us as people who don't do anything, who want to be outside of society & have nothing to contribute to it, where on the very contrary, we think we have a lot of
beautiful healing  stuff to share & we were hoping to show that to the world. & get some work too.
Our workshops are not all about intimacy, but yoga, dancing, singing, meditation, theatrical self expression, mindful eating & other practices that help people quit
smoking, drugs & alcohol, overcome eating disorders & emotional dependence, find self fulfillment & esteem in the essential beauty of their humanity, while having fun &
liberating creativity. I have been developing these practices for years (see
Alomistical Meditation & Alomentoring for more details). But they left all that out too. I guess it
wasn't Taboo enough. They actually only showed the actual workshop for a second. Mostly they just showed me giving the participants a quick preliminary run-through
when we didn't  even know we were being filmed, & sure made it look uninviting.
That wasn't the only time that they filmed us without our knowledge, even though they kept assuring us they would always let us know. Another time, they show us sitting &
pacing around in the street. But we never do that: we were impatiently waiting for the crew to go buy a snack! How Candid! They had time to show that, & a bunch of
unrelated balconies & trollies, but not a second of our music playing. Apparently they really wanted to construe us as people who just hang around doing nothing.
They say "when they go to the store, they don't go in" while they show us looking in the dumpster outside. But minutes before they shot that scene we had gone in the
store to buy some fruit as well. They say we "don't use money", but we absolutely told them we do. While we do favor a gift economy, frugality & waste recycling, we don't
entirely bypass money. We want to be able to support ourselves from the art & workshops that we've worked on for a long time, that we love doing, & that are beautiful &
healthy things to share with society.
They say "when they're not eating fruit, they relax", while they show us practicing the dance part of the performance art they don't acknowledge (to the tune of our own
music). But we also do all kinds of other things, which we showed them, & they filmed, & totally left out. Plus we've had all kinds of heavy duty situations like Matthew
having heart surgery, me a very hard immigration case, & all kinds of other "relaxing" stuff. Our lives are absolutely not "care free", as some viewers of the show have
commented.
While we are proud of our present recycling ways, which have sustained us through crippling adversity, we'd rather upgrade to collecting official fruit waste donations for
producing & participating in healing events, performing in a higher scale, & traveling. They didn't say anything about our aims, talents & capacities. For all they know, we
just dumpster dive & eat fruit & that's all there'll ever be.
They were so intent to paint us as total good for nothing dropouts, they'd want to make sure we stay that way. I understand they highlight the tabooest thing they can, but
intently absolutely refusing to even mention we make music & all the beautiful things they filmed us saying about being eager to use our talents to contribute to society &
help people heal, while claiming we "refuse to work", seems like too much. We are actually eager to work on what we are good at.
It seems it was Beyond's post production crew who refused to work by leaving out most of the footage of one whole full time day of filming, & the most productive part of
our lives, causing more of the absurd waste that ails society. It would have been a lot more work for them to edit through all that, so they simplified us by leaving out our
best, most sophisticated side. They actually made a point of not showing anything constructive or creative that we showed them. They say that "being in the city is better
to pursue our art", but they never offer any indication of what that art may be. According to them, all we ever do is dumpster dive, eat fruit & relax.
As instinctive fruitarians, we think the addiction to food has caused humanity to believe they need to work to provide for themselves, as opposed to relying on nature, & it
has created a  whirlwind of overproduction, overcomsumption, consumerism, & human separation. But that's just our interpretation of history. We also think human
productivity should slow down & return to nature. But that's just our dreams. This is post modern 21st century. We do think that a lot of the work being done is
unnecessary, unecological & unhealthy. We would certainly refuse to get a random unhealthy job to afford things we don't need to buy. But that doesn't mean we don't do
anything else that society considers work. We believe in art, meditation, community service, & a lot of other things that people do for work. It's a very broad statement to
say we refuse to work. It's not like they said "they refuse to get a consumeristic rat race job, but they love playing music, making art & they've developed a bunch of wild
meditations & healing practices, & they would love to make a living from it all". No, they said "they refuse to work", "they don't use money", "when they're not eating fruit,
they relax", & made no mention of our music, even as it played in the background. Or show but a couple of the many meditations & practices we shared with them, without
mentioning it's all a comprehensive healing program we have developed.
Again, while their portrayal is obviously a lot more Taboo & easier for them to work with than our real complexities, it's not accurately who we are, nor an approach that is
likely to improve our lives or give us any opportunities. Plus, we are devotedly careful to live in what we think is the healthiest ways possible, & we feel we have an
important healing message & we hate to be misconstrued. While parts of it are true, the full picture they paint is not exactly the message we wanted to put out there.
We feel haunted by our imprint on collective conscience. Millions have seen us dumpsters diving (in high quality production), while only thousands have seen our music
(in low budget, tripod/cheapy camera quality), or an accurate version of our fun healing practices.
We let them use our music & videos for free because we thought it was gonna give us exposure & widen our horizons. What they showed is likely to establish &
perpetuate us as pariahs.
We were hoping to show we transmute the mindless waste of consumerism into very constructive art, but they showed us in a way that can only further stigmatize us as
free loaders. We remember feeling under pressure that they wanted us to do more & more of the dumpsters, & telling them to please make sure it wasn't all about
scavenging, but about showing all the wild artistic stuff that we do with our finds, & the beautifuly creative lives we support with it. They kept assuring us they would put a
little of everything in there.  We feel like such a waste of healing talent! We truly believe we have a unique gift to help people Heal for Real in great fun, we also deserve to
shine & become solvent, & everybody oughta know about our  fun, groovy healing ways.
We feel jinxed &  cheated out of our opportunity to show the beautiful healing things we want to share, to further insert ourselves in society, & work.
We don't refuse to work. We have had a lot of crippling hardship our lives. Matthew has had heart surgery & will need another one due to birth defect & he's officially
disabled. We would have an impossible time doing random work we're not interested on, or we find unhealthy, just for money. But we actively pursue opportunities to
perform & do workshops. We haven't been very successful partly cause we are indeed weird & we don't know how to make ourselves known to a wider audience. Our
Tranceformance music is certainly no rock-pop act. We thought Taboo's weirdness focussed audience would be good exposure for us.
None of the people featured in the other Taboo stories provided their own music or video clips to them. Yet we are the only ones they claim "refuse to work". It seems like
a very unfair, twisted, unkind "antirecognition". Also, many of the other stories feature activities people make money & work with, & the wide exposure will likely get them
more work.  The aspect of ourselves that they chose to show, fruitarian scavenging, while it's obviously very Taboo, is not likely to get us anything, while our music,
performance  & workshops very well might have. Even more unfair since those other people are already established in their (however weird) line of work, whereas we are
disenfranchised pariahs in need of a breakthrough, & they knew it.
We don't refuse to work: Beyond & NatGeo refuse to give us any credit or reward for the work we've done for them for free. Like, not even the reward that other stories
get by default.
1 or 2 weeks before airing each episode, NatGeo posts promotional clips of each story on their website & youtube. A balloon lover guy from the previous episode had like
500.000 views  on youtube before the show even aired. They actually didn't post a promo clip for us, to this day. We looked every day, to our ever-growing
disappointment. Not that we would have cared for their approach had we known, but it seems they were truly unfair to us. We should have refused to work for them.
Other than during the shoot, astoundingly, there was an insignificant amount of communication & coordination with either NatGeo or Beyond. Once they got our release,
they didn't care for us at all. We weren't allowed to see it until it came out. We don't know if they harmed us willfully or they just didn't realize what they were doing. But it
sure hurts.
It has caused great professional harm, distress & emotional turmoil. We couldn't wait for the show to air, since they hadn't let us seen it yet, but ever since we feel our life
is a nightmare, we're doomed to obscurity, people just hate & want to hurt us, we'll never get a chance, & all sorts of hopelessness.  We are embarrassed that we emailed
all our contacts before hand to see the show.  We made fools of ourselves. That's a lot of bad feelings in exchange for all the beauty we candidly shared with them.
We wish we could at least get a public apology for defamating & demeaning us & presenting an unfairly partial & inaccurate version of ourselves. What we'd really want
most is their audience of millions to see the wonderful productive artistic sofisticated side of us, & to be given credit for the music & videos they used. But we can only
hope there's other channels to show our music & healing talents to the world.
